Shea Terra Organics is one of those brands you just can’t help but fall in love with. Sourcing the most potent organic & wildcrafted ingredients from across Africa, and using whole herbs for synergistic benefits, their products are pure healing superstars!

I’ve been a fan for a long time now (see here) and I especially love their facial oils (constant staples in my skincare arsenal), masks and cleansers. I find that my oily, acne prone & fussy skin responds exceptionally well to their simple, yet powerfully effective formulations.

I was recently gifted with a few products to try and after a few months of using them, I’m going to share my thoughts on each. 🙂

Rosehips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Wash – A long time fave of mine (see full review here), this cleanser is the best when my skin is acting up and breaking out! It gently exfoliates away pore-clogging dead skin cells, does not strip the skin of its natural oils, and leaves skin feeling soft and pampered. My blemishes always lessen and heal faster whenever I use this consistently! ❤️

Price – $18 Ingredients – Spring water, Yoruban Black Soap (Cocoa Pod Ash, Plantain Peel Ash, Palm Kernels, Camwood Bark), Certified Organic Sunflower Oil, Certified Organic Coconut Oil, Potassium Hydroxide (Electrocuted Salts- what makes oil into soap), Certified Organic Rose Hips Oil, Kalahari Mineral Salts

Baobab & Coconut Water Dull Face Masque – This face mask is the perfect solution for dull, tired, dehydrated skin! It contains only two ingredients – Baobab Fruit Powder & Dried Coconut Water, the benefits of which are plentiful and include a high content of free radical fighting & skin-brightening Vitamin C (Baobab) as well as gentle exfoliation and hydration (Coconut Water). I love to use this a few times a week in lieu of my regular morning facial cleanser, adding just enough water to create a paste and then applying it before I shower where I rinse it off. Afterwards, my skin is super soft and ready for the next step in my routine!

Price – $24 Ingredients – Wild Harvested Baobab Fruit (Adansonia Digitata) & Coconut Water (Cocos Nucifera)

Yangu Oil – A light, yet deeply penetrating oil that is high in anti-oxidants and essential fatty acids, this “beauty secret” of the Maasai Tribe in Kenya will make you wonder how you didn’t use this sooner! Despite hours of direct exposure to the hot sun, the Maasai Tribe are known for having virtually wrinkle free, firm skin well into advancing years! Using Yangu Oil daily is said to be one of their “best kept” (though not any longer!) secrets to keeping their skin healthy and youthful. Besides providing UV protection, this hydrating oil has many other benefits to the skin, including offering relief from psoriasis, eczema, sagging skin, as well as dry, damaged skin. From my own experience, I’d like to add that it helped hydrate my skin, without being greasy or breaking me out (despite being higher in oleic acid than linoleic: 41.5% to 30-40% respectively). Because it is a lighter oil, I like to use this in the morning under my moisturizer.

Price – $21 Ingredients – 100% Pure Yangu Oil

Lesotho Rose Hips Oil (Certified Organic) – If you suffer from acne, rosacea or are looking for something to slow down Father Time a bit, then this is the oil for you! Shea Terra’s Rose Hips oil is organic, cold pressed, unrefined and comes from the rubiginosa variety of wild roses grown in the pristine mountains of Lesotho. It is high in lycopene and vitamin A, both of which help protect skin cells from sun damage as well as provide anti-oxidant benefits. Rose hip oil is also high in linoleic acid (43-46%), which makes it a perfect oil for acne prone skin, as most acne prone skin is deficient in linoleic acid. That being said, I have heard of some people that have broken out when using Rose Hips oil, thankfully, I’m not one of them, so this oil is my holy grail! 😉 I like to use this at night as my “anti-aging/anti-acne” moisturizer and my skin has been looking brighter, clearer and has a healthy glow since I started using this! Score!

Price – $28 Ingredients – 100% Certified Organic Lesotho Rosehips Oil

Egyptian Chamomile Oil (Nile Grown) – Used for centuries by ancient cultures as part of their beauty treatments, Chamomile Oil has a long list of benefits, including relieving irritation from rashes and eczema, balancing oily skin and providing heavy hydration for dry, aging skin. It also multi-tasks as a hair treatment for thicker, shinier hair and healthier scalp. I’ll be completely honest, I didn’t use this oil as much as the others because I wasn’t a fan of the scent – it’s a bit too earthy for me. I am trying to find a way to incorporate it into a routine, as I like the consistency and how it moisturizes, but so far, I’ve only used it a few times, so I can’t personally say if it’s made a real difference in my skin. 🙁

Price – $24 Ingredients – 100% Pure, Cold Pressed Chamomile Flower Seed Oil

Bottom Line – Whether I like the scents or not, the quality, the performance and the integrity of the products make this a brand that I will continue to be loyal too. Besides being affordable, Shea Terra’s products are sustainable and provide income for many families throughout Africa.
